Regular readers – people who have no real lives and are addicted to dog pictures – will recall my angst when SJWs scoffed my big flag three weeks ago. No, it has not turned up. The cops were stymied. That prized possession is gone, gone, sadly.
My crime was to celebrate Canada Day. On Canada Day. With a Canadian flag. In Canada. The theft was not enough punishment, however. The same crew took to Facebook and called me “white privileged”, “tone-deaf”, “elitist” and “racist” for having hoisted the banner. You may recall I wrote a blog about the incident, and I made note that all the people who jammed my corporate email, all those who burst into my office to berate me plus the ones leading the social media assault were female. “Young women, coincidentally,” I scribbled, because I found that interesting.
Well, now I’m “misogynist”, too.
These are disappointing times to be an old, white, male who owns stuff. Like a building on which to hang a flag. But it’s not just an issue of Canada, patriotism, Indigenous reconciliation, race or gender. It seems as a society we’re rapidly losing any sense of commonality. It’s notable that the worst public health crisis in a century – a global pandemic that killed millions globally and 26,000 in Canada in little more than a year – did not bind us. The opposite.
Social distancing rules made people leap off the sidewalk. WFH and the quest for space caused urban flight. Masking has erased smiles and normal courtesy. Society’s been upended lately and Covid seems to have exacerbated the divisions among us. Was it a coincidence that the Black Lives Matter movement exploded during the pandemic? Or that in Canada statues of monarchs and our first prime minister have been defaced, toppled and beheaded during the lockdowns?
Quarantines, restrictions, states of emergency, limits on freedom and movement – they have all ratcheted up stress. The pandemic, at the same time, has increased the wealth divide. Jeff Bezos made out like a bandit as WFH turned Amazon into an essential service. People with houses have scored an absolute windfall in the pandemic real estate boom while millions are now locked out. Generational warfare has heightened as the ‘rich’ Boomers are pilloried by the Mills and Zs. MeToo made men evil. Then Covid added race, wealth and ageism to the mix. Suddenly we got to a point where the prime minister (correctly) has a summit on Islamaphobia but (shamefully) refuses to condemn burning churches. The premier of Manitoba, my old pal Brian Pallister, was trashed for saying he’d restore the public art depicting Queen Elizabeth. The Queen of Canada.
A blog comment yesterday mentioned that a group in Nova Scotia has published an “environmental racism” map of that province, purporting to show where pollution or industrialization affects people of colour or disadvantaged groups. I also noticed a real estate board has now condemned the practice of buyers sending letters to sellers in the hope they’d empathize, picking them as the purchasers. That’s potentially discriminatory, the realtors say. In fact at least one US state is banning these ‘love letters’ entirely.
Why?
Because we’re now a woke society that disallows any discrimination based on race, ancestry, color, religion, gender, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity. “It’s incredibly difficult if not impossible to write a love letter and not mention at least one of those protected classes,” says an agent.
Prejudice and hatred are wrong. We all get it. Most people try to be decent. Most succeed.
However, the more we divide ourselves up – whether by racial ancestry or pronouns – the less we have in common. Like history. Or the resolve to help the environment and fix the deficit. Or save our health care from a virus. Or the nation.
Time to stop.
About the picture: “I contacted you back in 2011,” she writes, “when I lived in Nunavut. I was only at two dogs then. I recently lost my police reject, old boy Ralph to old age (15) As well my husky, Murphy to cancer. Within a few months of each other. You gave us advice in 2011 and we followed it. But my marriage is now done. I still have three dogs, and the husband doesn’t want a divorce. He cheated with a church pastor. I’m currently vacationing at my best friends ranch with our six year old son and our three dogs. They built the dogs a dog run. I work as a carpentry apprentice. I changed careers two years ago-law enforcement to carpentry. Two of my dogs are sick, one with cancer, another with heart disease. Soon I’ll only have one dog. Left to Right: Clancy , Murphy (passed), Sally, Ralph (passed) and Hunter (the only healthy one).”

Backlash to Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin’s glowing performance review while under investigation
“Eyre wrote the review all the while knowing for months that the Maj.-Gen. was under investigation by military police regarding one allegation of sexual misconduct “over 30 years ago.”

Even the Sr Leadership of the CF (sometimes accused of careerism) are closing ranks to push back and protect themselves from the Incompetent and weak ethos of this Liberal government.
Read between the lines, the very serious people responsible for the military in this country hold the weak ideology and corruption of the Liberal Government in complete contempt.
A vague 30 year old accusation that someone did something to someone and they fire the white male, destroying a hard career path. No due process at all, a witch burning because all accusations from females about successful males are Prima Facie true in Trudeau s woke ideology (accept for the accusations concerning him).
Worst Government ever…..
I’m afraid this “woke ideology” that tries to ‘disallow’ discrimination has the opposite effect sadly. Unfortunately, the majority of people are blind (can I say that?) to this outcome.
Woke is ironically, the opposite of actually being woke.
That’s OK. In about 60 years Canadians will turn 180 degrees again.

Hi Garth, I can attest you are not a misogynist. Not in writing or in person. (yes, I have met you). I have run into those that are in my life, or nearly run over by them, and you by no way fit the definition. Where do I sign the petition/attestation/report card?
We’re in this strange place in the world where things apparently are not what they really are because they are not really called what they should be called.
The argument is that it’s not what you say it is, because if it was what you say it is, it would be called that, but it isn’t called that. It’s called this, and therefore, this is not that.
It’s really twisted logic, and it does fool a majority of people – fascinating. Perhaps that’s why they are called sheeple?
Maybe there should be a petition to let ol’ Gartho jump the line for one of those big peace tower flags.
His got nicked, he’s a former MP, I think an exception can be made.
The woke brigade also relish in cancelling their own… CBC’s Wendy Mesley, the one who plied gotcha ‘journalism’ on Jordan Peterson, got ‘retired’ by the woke wolves… She used the N-word ‘improperly’ doing a story and it was too much, even with her apologies… Only JT can get away with these transgressions because he has nice hair and says he’s a peoplekind environmentalist feminist…
A lot of people weren’t working and had time on their hands. It’s sort of like the Fix-it list at home that you’ll get around to when you have the time.
Can’t for the life of me understand why gender is a protected characteristic. Believers in the Church of Gender Woo can, and do, change their gender as often as they please when it benefits them. Why are non-believers forced to play the narcissist’s fantasy game?
There’s no evidence that gender is anything more than harmful stereotypes, now enshrined in law. Crime statistics are now recorded by self-declared gender, leading to violent male sexual offenders being counted in women’s crime stats and being imprisoned with vulnerable women.
Domestic violence shelters are de-funded if they refuse to admit men in dresses. A violent male could legally demand entry to the same shelter that harbours his abused partner.
Don’t confuse male colonization of the female sex with any progressive notion of equality.
Good commentary on the cultural upheavals going on, and I make sure to keep a low profile to avoid problems given that I am near the top of the food chain in my profession, and am especially careful with work emails. Lie low, but try to be a decent human.
However, our society as I see it has not been playing for a common team for many, many, years. The divide only grows worse with the rapid escalation in the wealth disparity and opportunities available for our younger citizens.
This road we are going down has been in the works for a few decades – it’s not good – it’s not beneficial- it’s not reasonable- and it will cause more damage before it too passes – I find most of it silly and boring – some of the most hilarious things that my wife or brother say in private would have me crucified by the Woke mob – humor is dead – and I will say that I also see a huge amount of these “isms” of the Woke are being pushed by young females – oh well the human race is what it is, 2 steps away from apes
Oops hope I haven’t offended any primates
Crash course: “woke” or Social Justice activism means that a dominant group has purposely created social structures, institutions, and ‘discourses’ for the sole purpose of establishing and maintaining power over other groups. For this reason, society is and can only be an oppressor/oppressed dichotomy. Any differences in outcomes are to be assumed a result of these power structures, any other proposed explanations are a denial of the problem at best. So this is a rhetorical device, intended to cast doubt on the legitimacy of any disparate outcome produced by any social system, for the purpose of delegitimizing society as it currently exists, and to head off any questioning of premises that underlie such a method of critique or any alternatives to it.
The aim is strategic, the intent is to succeed operationally, not suggest solutions or try to provide a realistic understanding of how power and human social interactions work.
So it’s not just good people trying to find a little balance in society. They don’t believe it’s possible, or desirable. The whole thing needs to go. Take the neo-Marxism of the Critical Theorists, to which postmodernist relativism was added in the early 90s, marinate it in academia for a generation or so, and that’s what you get. And they’re coming for you too.
Those who call others names are equally guilty. Pot=kettle. As for the rise in less than desirable social behavior, might possibly be due to mask wearing. The belief being that ‘no one will know it is me’ because hey, face is obscured. However, given the apparent inability of those whose actions are less than stellar to keep their lips zipped, including posting selfies for the world to see that belief of anonymity is just a tad over optimistic.
The irony of those calling you privileged, tone-deaf, and elitist for not celebrating Canada the way they thought you should.
I suspect they are not intelligent enough connect the dots on that.
The whole “race” thing doesn’t make any sense anyways. What is a “black” person anyways? Is being black based on your skin colour? If so, I’ve got news for the BLM folks… there were LOTS of black slave owners. Yep, that’s right. Lots of slave owners were black, and so were the people who auctioned off slaves. In fact, some of the worst and most abusive slave owners were black. On the flip side of the coin, many of the people who worked to fight for black rights were white folks who marched alongside them in the 60’s and were oftentimes punished alongside them.
So then, what is race? Is a white boy who is raised by two black parents, in a black family, in a black neighbourhood, not technically “black”? If gender is neutral and someone can be the opposite sex of what their chromosomes say, then why can’t someone be the opposite of what their skin colour is? But of course these kinds of thoughts don’t jive with what these groups are trying to accomplish. They do not want to discuss anything, they merely want to take whatever it is they don’t have from whoever has it. In this case, their target is easy – rich white men.
I guess I am not “woke”. Whatever that means. Apparently to be woke you need to burn everything down. You are not even allowed to talk about WW2 anymore. Or The Adventures of Huckberry Finn. Everyone is offended at something, and if you aren’t offended then you are offending someone by not being offended. Maybe this is all because of covid, or maybe covid was just an accelerant added to an already burning fire. Remember, before covid we had MeToo, Cancel Culture, Occupy Wallstreet and BLM. We’re just getting started folks. Buckle up because there’s no where to go. It’s just as bad everywhere outside of Canada too. This isn’t an isolated thing anymore.
Philosophy Friday:
Any society/ culture evolves to the point of being unable to defend itself against outsiders or internal strifes. See the great empires of the past : Egyptian, Persian, Greek,Roman, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Aztec, Mongol, Chinese, Russian …
It is unfortunately our turn here in North America. So let’s YOLO’it responsibly and not worry about things we can’t control ,instead work with the system to enable a better outcome.
Sad as it is history repeats so it will never turn back to what it was but we can prevent anarchy followed by despotism.
Oh yes – conservatives “war on woke”. A worldwide, not just Canadian, phenomenon. So what? It took a global health crisis to give people time to reconsider not just the state of the world but where their own lives were leading.
Seems to me that the angriest people are those who benefited most from the “status quo”. If the shoe fits, then most likely, you may be “an old, white, male who owns stuff”.
What is the alternative to wokeness? To go back to some imagined kumbaya-state where the discriminated against enjoyed the discrimination?
Think of it. Canadians have always been divided: colonist-native, catholic-protestant, French-English. Look at the real state of the world – environmental disaster, hatred, violence and stupidity – all brought to you by the GD “status quo” and the current one percent.
The emperor has no clothes.
In medicine there are actual consequences to not being able to talk about the “isms”.
For example, certain diseases mostly affect people of select backgrounds, but data on the matter is usually presented only by age, and gender because it’s not appropriate to talk about ancestry, race or religion. You can be sure, however that your genes remember.
Canadians spoilt nature is such a turn-off. Most couldn’t grow a garden if their life depended on it, let alone process meat, fix their car, a leaky toilet, cook, or even invest properly.
We are a nation of woke keyboard warriors with no practical hands on skills, judging our ancestors as if they lived like we do.
The factory for all this wokeness is our university system. It long ago stopped being about education, and has been pushing increasingly radical and divisive theories on impressionable youth since at least the early 60s, and probably earlier than that. A BA is now a useless piece of paper .
If you read the book “Sinister Street” by Compton Mckenzie, you get a good description of what university life was like at Oxford a century ago. He studied the “classical” rather than the “modern” curriculum. That is, he chose what we now call a BA as opposed to a B Sc. But don’t confuse it with the modern BA! The studying he had to do to earn his degree, the work, the learning, was unbelievable. A degree in “the classics” back then meant you had to know western history. As in ALL OF IT. You had to become fluent in classical Greek and Latin.
Practical? No. But holy crap, anyone surviving and thriving 4 years of that, you can bet that they were indeed a “well rounded, civic minded individual”, which back then, was the goal of higher education. Why go through all that learning otherwise, if not a commitment to making society better?
Compare that to the various academic fields today. Entire fields based on resentment and bitterness. And the coursework is totally dumbed down because, if you want to hand degrees out like toilet paper (everybody deserves a post-secondary education!”), well, you can’t have those same exacting standards now can you?
Have we really done a better job educating the populace? Or have we just dumbed down the education system to make it more accessible to those bright lights who perhaps were never cut out for academic pursuits? And if the latter, what have we gained by doing so?
Didn’t this blog talk about walking quietly unrecognized among the unwashed masses?
I just come here and occasionally post about my lovely B&D portfolio. Currently back over 16% sitting at 16.05% ytd. I feel orgasmic and the woke crowd can do nothing about it. Now that…is satisfaction.
Easier to destroy than build.
“Time to stop” What could this possibly mean coming from a narcissist and SJD(Social Justice Denier)while refusing himself to stop doing exactly what it is that divides people, someone ever so shure that only their point of view is valid. You turn patriotism into soft bigotry by being in service to only Garth Turner. I quote you, Suck it up.
Victimhood has become it’s own industry, rivaling manufacturing, agriculture and fisheries combined through the following stages:
1. compensating actual victims to
2. identifying victims (who hadn’t realized that they were victims) and rewarding them
3. creating individual victims and rewarding them
4. Educating people into creating their own classes of victims who were not actually injured, but brainwashed into thinking they were and rewarding them (with a handsome vig to the organizer)
5. Into the latest stage, the creation of the Victim-Industrial Complex by pre-assigning each individual a victim class and demanding a reward for them (minus the skim off the top of course).
My victim class? People harmed by the Victim-Industrial Complex. Where do I sign up to get compensated?
Can’t believe the stereotyping in this clip. It is clear that Steve doesn’t have a lick of rhythm. Shockingly insensitive. Probably racist.

The future is decidedly female.
It will be vastly poorer. The toilets won’t work and your ceiling will leak. Pensions will be vapor. You go grrrls. Every feeling will be legally coerced as a tort and common sense will be illegal.
MiGTOW really is a thing. Intelligent well-read young males got your memo. Marriage kaput. Family future kaput, welfare state kaput. No more plumbers, no house builders … or roofers.
Hooray … like South African Rioters and American Female Soccer teams… you win biggly. Play stoopid games …win, big, stoopid prizes.
Today’s wokists are like yesterday’s maoists, as such they are recycled garbage, as before they control our universities and have the ear of medias, social and otherwise and many politicians, as usual, go with the flow.
Our best hope is as always the inherent common sense of the people.
Blame the universities. They are pouring out extreme leftist graduates in every discipline. It’s infecting all of society.
The decision to purchase land away from people looks like it is making more and more sense by the min.
Be woke, don’t be woke, tear down statues, set things on fire, we won’t hear a thing.
It’s just us, the bugs and elons starlink internet out here.
Oh and we have a Canadian flag up on the pole as well.
The woke thing is based on focusing on which “group” you belong to – always determined by the SJW.
With this lens, Michael Jordan’s kids would be the oppressed whereas poor kids of white parents working as greeters at Walmart are “privileged”. Too many male firefighters would result in a watering down the strength criteria, but the fact that there are too few male teachers for little boys is ignored….and on an on…
If we just focus on INDIVIDUAL rights, responsibilities and respect, the world would be much better…but good luck with that.

Wokeism is just the latest mass delusion to grip western society. People quickly go crazy in crowds. They slowly come to their senses one by one.
People caught up in this should stop to ponder the old truism, you do not honour one group by disrespecting another.
The pendulum has swung way too much in one direction and eventually it will swing back. The majority still rules, they are just being quiet at the moment.

Well said, and very much on point.
Far too many have been far too privileged by the unbalanced, unhealthy status quo of the last many decades. Anything that threatens to change or even challenge that is now subject to information warfare.
The change is coming. Everyone has two choices.

Victor Maitland, well said and absolutely correct in my opinion. Time to cut funding and redirect the remainder to studies that will help Canada succeed in the 21st century.
Social media and access to information ( without the training or education to sort and validate that information) has a big part in polorization.
Trying to be inclusive and non discriminatory is not a negative thing. The way people discuss these things (online) has changed and anonymously posting opinions is unhelpful.
Would you rather we don’t call these things out? Bury our heads in the sand and continue treating segments of the population poorly. Me too did not make men evil, it exposed the fact that MANY women have faced sexual harrassment or worse. Don’t minimize the experience of people different than you.
No one should have stolen your flag. They could have written you a letter, posted something online or just participated in something on Canada that supports their own values (best choice). The term woke does seem to be derogatory to minority groups fighting for a chance to sit at the table with he rest of us who take this for granted. Call out those who try to rip others down instead of building up and building bridges for those that don’t have a voice.
everyone’s answer to discrimination is more discrimination. sadly those who yell loudest usually win. I take comfort in knowing thay although it seems these sirrybescuse for decent people appear to be overrunning everything, they are in fact a small minority with extremist views. social media is doing the rest. but everyone wants freedom of speech so they can quiet people they disagree with. so I guess we all got exactly what we wanted.
“…and the masses, when they find themselves confronting a world without hope, will turn to hysteria. Impoverished, hungry and insatiably angry – they will prey upon themselves and destroy the foundations of their own stability. Liberal democracy is a suicidal social structure that devours itself from the inside.”

Those woke snowflakes can all go FO. This blog has been and continues to be a shining icon of common sense and sound advice on housing, finance and dogs.
As any pitch person or ad sales person will tell you, if you can get someone fired up about something, you basically have carte balance when it comes to directing their thinking and their actions. About actions, well, some of the more successful people to take advantage of this are of course the Nazis, the CCP, and other totalitarian regimes.
Here in Canada, for most of our history, we have relatively few such bad actors although I would put Stephen Harper in the budding bad actor category. Doug Ford is another such although it is hard to imagine him ever succeeding at anything really. He falls into the annoyance category. On the money side, we have only to look towards the real estate cartel to see how easily people can be separated from their money and that is probably a much greater threat.
It seems like a lot of these flag-stealing, hate-labelling, blustering fools who choose to engage in civil unrest, and plain criminality, are perhaps the most easily manipulated and misled. A pox on their houses, and may they come to realize, probably too late, that what they are only hurting is themselves if they are even moderately successful at destabilizing this great country. In my anointed status as an old male who has stuff and financial independence, I will drink to their very good health. I can afford it.
Mmmmmm, a couple of sides of beef seem to have been hurled off the truck. Unfortunately, I’ve recently switched vegetarian, so not going to do me much good. Still, I look forward to reading the keyboard pecking of the Neanderthals who invariably come out of the woodwork to get their piece and drag it back into their respective caves. I really enjoy watching them work their chunks of flint while clutching their bead-work. Takes much dexterity. Judging by the MIGTOWs early to the party, this will not fail to impress.
Anyhow, I’ve found that by just being a decent human and occasionally respecting small changes in my use of language out of respect for others around me (i.e. basic manners which exist to make people feel comfortable) I’ve had overall free fetter of, and nary a care in, the world. Yet so many of you seem bound in a strait jacked of wokeness. Confusing.
Learning from others isn’t that hard. Being an inflexible, hard-headed knob often is. Woke? Who cares? if you ignore it, 95% of this stuff will never impact you. The 5% that does has a good chance of making you a better person in an increasingly crowded world.
Happy Friday to everyone (except BillyBob).
Just kidding. Happy Friday to you too BillyBob. Victoria misses you.

Looks like you’ve been reading James Lindsay – that’s a good thing. Wokeness is a cheat and should be treated as such.

The most popular pedigreed cat breeds in the USA are 1. Persian, 2. Maine Coon, and 3. Exotic Shorthair.

Cats are the best.
The “woke” movement feels like a form of religious extremism with its witch-hunting and its desire to marginalize everyone else.
Garth,
Here here! Thank you for a fantastic post.
For what it’s worth, in spite of the nonsense that surrounds us these days, I will continue to do my best to respect my fellow humans and Canadians to the best of my ability, regardless of gender, class, race, age, background, etc., etc. I admit it’s tough sometimes but I will continue …

FEELING YOUR PAIN!
Garth I can feel your pain. As for myself, it’s too late. I am opiniated, I am outspoken. I definitely don’t sensor myself well at all. I’m very likely to tell you what I actually think rather than the politically correct thing you want to hear. Apparently that offends some people. It’s a shame that I don’t have better control, but there it is, that’s who I am. On the plus side, I don’t go out of my way to impose my will, or intentionally hurt people by word or action. If more people continue to shy away from taking a stand pointing out right from wrong, you are leaving the doors wide open for the bomb throwers. I am on my throne and I will not step down.
Because we’re now a woke society that disallows any discrimination based on race, ancestry, color, religion, gender, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity. “It’s incredibly difficult if not impossible to write a love letter and not mention at least one of those protected classes,” says an agent.

Hi Garth. What you write is accurate. Women, mostly white women, have strategies as to how they communicate on the internet: 1) They often dont say much. 2) They say a little bit so the reader has to dig and ask as to their meaning. 3) They criticize and say things they wouldnt and couldnt hold up in real life. Sadly their communication has no bearing in reality and much of it is laughable. Who cares if a bunch of tarts gave you flack about being patriotic? It’s laughable. As a white male I am at the top of the food chain. People may argue, however that is the reality. At this point I dont care anymore because my entire life I have been made to apologize for being born a white male. First in grade school. By my mother. Then at university. And now I have to hear about it from other females? Nope. I clean dishes with my wife and do equal duties as it should be. Female chauvist pigs have no place. And they do exist. You play the victim female card and I eliminate your credibility. The other day my manager at my hospital job said some delusional things on an online zoom meeting. I laughed. I thought it was so funny that she thinks in the Calgary Herald they would do an article on how my workplace is the best in the city. Yes my job is great. However an article? So I laughed. She said over my phone while I was driving, “what is that laughter?” I didnt get in trouble, I had no idea the zoom call wasnt muted. As a guy I daily get put down, laughed at, and mocked for my gender and race. So if you get heck for putting up a flag on Canada Day, screw them.
I have no issue with anyone doing anything, as long as it doesnt impede me with what I am doing. I dont have to approve of anything of what other people do nor do I have to like it. Gays, blacks, FTM, trannies, whatever, go for it. Just dont criticize me for being a white male. The wonderful thing about this planet is not everyone is the same. And I dont push my agenda on anyone.
Good blog today.

I would be careful Garth, in using the expression “woke” that has been rebranded by Republicans for the last year or so in media, as describing in a derogatory way, various leftist movements and ideologies the right has disagreed with specific to social injustice and critical race theory.
In short, “woke” is fast becoming an offensive term used by the political right to denigrate those campaigning against discrimination. Woke is fast becoming a word used in the same demonizing way as “communist” or “socialist” but with an ironic twist, suggesting that those who are quote unquote “woke”, are fake like those accused of “virtue signaling”. Y’know, such individuals and groups don’t really care about ending discrimination or represent virtue, they just want to be perceived as such:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtue_signalling
I have no doubt in my mind that so called acts of “wokeness” in the confused minds of some are hypocritical when such acts destroy flags and burn churches or call men misogynists for simply being men and on it goes. That being said, what was ever so bad about organizing to end discrimination in all of it’s forms? Can someone please explain what’s so bad about the admiration and practice of virtues in all of their forms?
I was reminded recently of what the two horns (powers) of the devil represent: GREED and LIES. I suppose that’s a bit too over the top for those who don’t believe in good or evil, but when has greed and lies ever really ended well for anyone? Greed and lies have power and worked for so and so, “give it time”. Conversely, when have virtues ever really ended in tears? It didn’t work for so and so, give them time.
Lots of fake virtue posers and fake accusers out there, hypocrisy has always been a thing. But since when was it really all that hard for those who practice virtues to know the difference from what is real and fake?
Garth,
One of life’s lessons is to only ever comment on an attribute of a person when it is not relevant to the conversation at hand.
People voiced opinions to you, as within certain scope they are free to do, since you’re a public figure putting out content inviting response. (And yes, at some point it tips the scale and becomes harassment… ).
But you chose to focus on an attribute of those people: their gender and age. Their gender and age is not pertinent to the conversation.
So to be called out on that is fair and totally in order.
As I read that post a few weeks ago, I thought to myself… “Garth needs to read the room a bit better here….”
Correction:
“One of life’s lessons is to only ever comment on an attribute of a person when it is not relevant to the conversation at hand.”
should be:
“One of life’s lessons is to never comment on an attribute of a person when it is not relevant to the conversation at hand.”

Those are all symptoms of a deeper problem that started decades ago.
There is a saying:
If you debauch the currency, you debauch the nation.
We got off the sound money train many decades ago and went hardcore into the money printing/debt supercycle.
People sense this though they might not understand it consciously. This is creating fear of the future and fear of societal failure. This is what is causing people to act out and rebel. They know they are being betrayed by ‘leadership’ and that there appears to be very little they can do.
They should know. They turned a blind eye and were silent when the government handed them the goodies. They said they would gladly pay in the future for a hamburger today.
Welcome to the future…

Confusing.

Garth sorry you have had to endure all the BS. Society is looking like a bunch of blamers rather than problem solvers. Sad really. My husband immigrated to Canada from South Korea more than 4 decades ago and grew up in a white city in Ontario. His parents told him that he had to work much harder than anyone else to become successful. Which he definitely did. They took a risk moving to Canada with the hope of giving their kids better opportunities. Some of their stories are pretty amazing as his parents lived through the Korean war. But the story I find the most incredible is one of deep patriotism and unity. In the late 1990’s South Korea was as a country in a financial crisis. The people of South Korea came together and solved their problem. Over 3.5 million young, old, rich and poor people voluntarily lined up and donated gold mostly in the form of jewelry which carried strong personal value as most Koreans are given jewelry as gifts from family during births and marriages. The country paid back their debt 3 years ahead of schedule. That is true patriotism!
Everything has gone way too far! No wonder people don’t say anything to people these days, it might be offensive.
Now they are going to rename ‘Asian Carp’, that ruinous of a fish invading the Great Lakes, if they can come up with a suitable name because its offensive.
Give me a break!
Hey Garth, at least they are not yet describing you as a “misogynist pig!” Maybe that will come. I figured from the beginning that the flag was immediately sacrificed by a ritual burning and is just ashes scattered somewhere symbolic. I wonder if a $10k reward would stir anyone to rat on the perpetrators.
You can’t have reconciliation giving one group special privileges over another. It creates Spite
You are sadly correct, Garth, that there are many forces that can divide us.
But one thing that does unite us, across all boundaries, is the need for, and the love of a family home.
Apart from the powerful contribution it makes to the best parts of family life and financial success for so many in Canadian society, real estate is also now about 13% of GDP. Closer to 20% when all the ancillary financing and trades are figured in. The biggest and most important part of our whole economy, overall.
Canadians desire and love their homes for powerful reasons. And that shared purpose can help bring us all together.
Making that happen is a big part of what my profession is all about, and why I am so committed to my work.
I am working on understanding what being woke really means. Before covid we brought a band into our cul de sac to celebrate CANADA DAY SINCE CANADA 150. We all
contributed decorated our houses invited our family and friends etc. This year I was the only one who put a large flag up for one day. Where are we going as time marches on?
After reading the comments a few thoughts come to mind:
“Racism does not have a good track record. It’s been tried out for a long time and you’d think by now we’d want to put an end to it instead of putting it under new management. ”― Thomas Sowell
“It is just fun for a lot of people to demolish other people and it always has been, across the board. People like doing it. If you’re really going to put yourself in the box marked ‘virtuous’, you’ve got to ask yourself whether you’re actually being virtuous, or whether you’re being sadistic. Be aware of how you’re using your power.” – Margaret Atwood
“Justin Trudeau is nothing more than a Pez Dispenser of far left progressivism idiocy. A Disney character of a Prime Minister.”
“Almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so.” ― Robert A. Heinlein
“The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.” ― Robert A. Heinlein
“In order to be able to think you have to risk being offensive” – Jordan Peterson
“The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum – even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there’s free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.” – Noam Chomsky
“Behavior is paramount; it’s 100 times more important than getting things done efficiently and productively. Ingenuity takes a huge back seat when compared to decorum and appropriate behavior” – Smoking Man

I assume mo muny will be enough to put you at peace in your moral crusade. Bonus points if we steal it from future generations to do so. Amirite?
I feel (we used to just think), that it’s a slow process to see that this is planned….for people who can’t understand why such things are desirable…because they themselves can not find a use in all of ‘this.’ Be creative, and you’ll find the answers. More to come. Plan for it.
Total destruction of Canadian identity is the goal. Who will be picking up the pieces? Probably someone more worthy presumably…or maybe not.
A picture and its story to match the theme for today: elements of chaos.
Now THAT, is my opinion.
But, alas, it will be considered judgmental…gawd knows what else.
The same “woke society that disallows discrimination based on race, ancestry, color, religion, gender, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity” seems very happy at the same time to discriminate against people based on vaccination/medical reasons.
All the unconstitutional restrictions and limitations imposed on civil liberties in other countries (Israel, Italy, France, UK, Ireland etc.) are cheered over there by the woke ones, just as they are cheered here by many.
What do you not get about ‘public health? You do not have the right to sicken others. – Garth
Looks like this world made a 360 degrees turn! :D
What we are witnessing is a country that tries to be everything for everybody but ends up being nothing for no one. It doesn’t help that we have a spineless woke PM who panders for votes with noisy special interest groups. If we don’t have a cohesive national identity then who are we?

#13 Gender Is Nonsense on 07.23.21 at 3:37 pm
——
Well take heart. This is a sign of woke doctrines’ impending demise. It’s starting to eat itself. Women are traditionally strong supporters of progressive ideals and equality. Do you suppose they might notice how the progressive ideals Feminists fought decades for, are now getting trampled by angry young wokesters?
Some Women have, and they’re out there fighting repeated cancellation attempts and angry trans-activist protesters as we type.

This must be the first time I have agreed with one of SA’s posts in months. Likely the memories of the Korean war had something to do with the altruistic level of patriotism leading to this collective act. The guiding principle of this ideology is revolution – not justice, or reparations, or harmony. Those are merely justifications for revolution.
If those justifications become insufficient, new justifications will be found, no matter how insane they seem.
This has always been the way of Communism.
Solzhenitsyn warned us years ago –
“Liberalism was inevitably pushed aside by radicalism, radicalism had to surrender to socialism, and socialism could not stand up to communism. The Communist regime in the East could endure and grow due to the enthusiastic support from an enormous number of Western intellectuals who (feeling the kinship!) refused to see communism’s crimes, and when they no longer could do so, they tried to justify these crimes.”
The only way to get out of this inevitable progression peacefully is for conservatives to stop trying to be progressive and start to reassert our cultural and spiritual values.

” It seems as a society we’re rapidly losing any sense of commonality.”
Yes, it certainly does.
But I wonder if it is really a widespread, common thing or just a small minority making a lot of noise and getting a lot of press? I mean, there really isn’t enough news in the world for 5 cable news stations to fill 24 hours per day 7 days a week, so they have to manufacture it (the news, that is).
Take for example “trans-rights”. How is it that I know about one Australian transwoman weightlifter’s struggles to be accepted to compete as a woman’s heavy lifter in the Olympics? Is this really the issue of our times? But there is a lot more coverage of this than the huge deficits and debt on the news. Probably exactly because it is polarizing and thus draws in viewers and comments whereas finance makes most people change the channel or fall asleep.
But in my sheltered existence, I do not run into these woke activists very often. I can tell it is affecting my young adult daughters, but we seem to have a peace accord where we don’t talk about it. When it comes to my coworkers, friends, family, soccer parents, other parents at the school, the trades that come through my house, fix my car, or even the guy who drives my taxi, I just don’t run into that much “woke”. Some are liberals, some are conservatives, some are NDP, some are probably libertarians, many are immigrants, but not much “woke” among them. Heck even when I am in a pub with all the Harley riders, well that certainly is a different culture, but it ain’t “woke”.
So why is this small “woke” crowd getting so much attention? Aside from ratings of course? And will they grow out of it like the hippies did? Is this a trend that is best left ignored like so many adolescent behaviors or is this trend going to radically reshape our whole society?
I personally am hopeful that natural selection will act as the “invisible hand” over time. Behaviors and ideologies that can’t be sustained eventually aren’t, and helpful behaviors and ideologies seem to always soldier on. After all these years, religion is still with us, even though there probably isn’t a god, or if there is he is pretty quiet. But the system works so it can’t be easily done away with. Good Christians and Muslims and Buddhists, and good (insert religion here) produce good Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, and (insert religion here) children who go on to support their societies and society at large and make more Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, and (insert religion here). But the “woke”? What are they really going to be able to produce once they have wreaked havoc on society?
Although natural selection of ideology can take a long time. Communism survived in the Soviet Union for a long time, but eventually reality caught up and the system collapsed. Here in the west it will probably be the central banking and government debt systems that collapse first, but that has happened many times before. What usually comes next is period of turmoil followed by renewed growth under an enhanced set of rules and social contract.
All things go through cycles, like the seasons. “Woke” is a sign that we are in fall, and winter cometh along with the storms, cold, and poverty. But even when they built Stonehenge they knew that when the right star appeared in the right set of columns, spring was on the way.
“Woke” is a problematic disease on society like a cancer in the body. But like all cancers, it is either removed or kills the host. What is good about “wokeness” will be retained, what isn’t will go away.
Sorry about your flag. In my days of youth there is no way such an act of vandalism and theft would go unpunished, let alone be thought of as an act of greatness. As for all the young people attacking you, female or not, remember that a human brain does not reach full development until about 25 years of age. You can’t really argue with them because they haven’t yet developed the ability to reason.

God, you are rude!
What you and woke and the Karens don’t get is that you have the right to inject yourself with whatever you want, wear ten masks, hide at home for the rest of your lives-yoy don’t have the right to foist your paranoia on others.
YOU are just as much of a woke, compliant sheep as all of these cretins. Shame! Get it?
We are so blind.
What is this commonality being spoken of and when in this country’s history was there ever commonality? True commonality is when all sides agree. Unfortunately that has never existed. Self-perspective is the problem because someone believes only in their own opinions. Things seem common when you benefit while others are left to pick up the scraps, and then there’s probably a bunch of people who sit in the middle that don’t know what is going on.
Groups on every side of the coin needs to have more empathy and compassion. Easier said than done because not everyone cares for equality and wants to be respectful during the process of figuring it out. One dude living in the mid-west said he doesn’t care what others do as long as it doesn’t impede his life. Nothing wrong with that in our society and the systems we live on, but it doesn’t help our country and our world when we all just care less about others. There are those that just don’t care at all, I blame the permanent blinders accessories that we all wear.
The world was designed perfect at the beginning but humanity has no clue how to steward it. We can’t even have respectful conversations on major issues to make true progress for everyone. Political systems we created and continue to maintain because we don’t care that much about the other sides, so let’s just negotiate everything! People in politics just excel in negotiation and trading, but the systems were not built for equality. Wealth gaps will continue to exists, some people continue to be at the top of the food chain. We can complain all about it but it will never get fixed with the systems we feel we need to maintain to keep existing order.
This will not end well generation after generation. The only promise is that the underlying truth of our humanity’s design and purpose will continue show the major cracks in our extremely flawed systems. I suspect this is only the beginning mates!

Well said, and very much on point.
Far too many have been far too privileged by the unbalanced, unhealthy status quo of the last many decades. Anything that threatens to change or even challenge that is now subject to information warfare.
The change is coming. Everyone has two choices.
—— –
I hate to break it to ya, but the SJW/equality/woke PM has made this particular privileged male far, FAR wealthier than he was back in 2014.
Tough news, I know. Now get this into ya – Trudeau will win again – and guess what? I’ll get even richer.
Yes, I’ve got two choices, leave Canada or get rich. What to do?
I know you don’t like to admit it, but no PM in the history of Canada has made the rich, richer – than has Trudeau. No one with a functioning brain will argue this.
Thank you.
Apparently PETA has come out against the recent rash of statue razing. They say there is strong evidence that for every statue that’s toppled, one hundred pigeons lose a roosting spot.
If You Go Woke, You Will Go Broke.
How about this one for a miserable bunch of disgusting Canadians. On hiring a storage unit to store my belongs while spending a few months out of the country, and returning to find my very personal and family items no longer in the unit. Can you imagine how difficult is to get any where with the unit owners for compensation? Even a painting of a parent in their World War Two uniform and a Bible missing? Every thing of a personal nature gone. Not having the money to take these people to court, they get away with the thrift. And they, extremely wealthy. One does not have to wonder how they have become soooo wealthy.
A country like Canada is definitely worth fighting for.
It’s just that I’ve forgotten what we’re fighting for…

“…. a group in Nova Scotia has published an “environmental racism” map of that province, purporting to show where pollution or industrialization affects people of colour or disadvantaged groups.”
Haven’t read the comments yet, but do you know where the “East side, West side” social classes originated?
The explanation I was given was that during early
industrialization, the dirty smoke emitting factories
were often located close to the town centre. In the temperate Northern latitudes, the prevailing wins are usually from the west, so the gunk was falling on the east side of town.
Of course this dirty, sooty area would be populated with the poor, who were often immigrants visible
minorities.
Not sure how that all fits in NS.

–Exactly right. We are socialist/communists now. The choice is to get rich or leave Canada. There will be two classes of people. Super rich, and super poor (the middle class is already dead). And IHC is correct. Under Trudeau I have doubled my net worth and will do it again if he gets in. The writing is on the wall. Sink the middle class, and erase any chance of anyone moving up a class. That’s how ‘equality’ works. Everyone is going to be equal – equally as poor. But the rich will always get richer. Get to work son.
Really an extension of something I posted recently, we (let’s be honest, it’s mostly men) have civilized the world to a point where people are comfortable being idiots. Outrageously there is a certain section of women (not all women) who are comfortable in their first world luxuries, now disparaging men at every turn. Who did the back breaking work and built things so we can all live in best moment in history?
Their comfort allows them time to moan, find fault and howl. And as they sit atop enjoying the collective success of the past, they also have government bending over backwards to accommodate their every whim and demand.
“It seems as a society we’re rapidly losing any sense of commonality. It’s notable that the worst public health crisis in a century – a global pandemic that killed millions globally and 26,000 in Canada in little more than a year (that’s three times the number who succumb to cancer in all its forms) – did not bind us. ….. exacerbated the divisions among us ” -GT
Correct. In fact the Pandemic acted as an ‘accelerant’. Not just with respect to the fragility of supply chains, the power of governments to close borders, limit freedom of travel, etc.
This enforced ideology of ‘sameness’ was never going to work. Incompatibility is all around us. Since Christ was a Corporal.
Perhaps a way through can be found in this quote from one of my favourite writers:
“To the globalist elites who are still attempting to control your fate, you are milk or meat. The moment they can no longer milk you for debt payments or rent, you and your children will be asked to report to the abattoir. But you have to volunteer to be milked or slaughtered; otherwise, processing you would be too difficult to do efficiently and profitably. Therefore, it is possible to think of ways to make yourself too expensive for them to exploit, so that they might give up on trying to use you for further self-enrichment and leave you in peace”.
Always remember the three important rules. Everything is possible. You never know what might happen. Living well is the best revenge.

A question for Faron and his woko haram brethren:
—
Yeah, it’s tough having a harem. Your were saying…? (yes, I get the band reference BTW but do appreciate the tell that you are a few generations out of touch)
Oh, yeah, undressing. Lol. I loved how you specified teenage women, but didn’t specify the age of the dysphoric teenage men. Almost as if you were invoking an irrational fear of female fragility that most women would spit in your face if not smack you/kick you in the nuts for. Nice.
************
Was there an answer in that gibberish?
Males of all ages can use women’s facilities in every public swimming pool, washroom and changing room in Canada? Don’t you think there’ll be females of all ages present?
Oh, and dysphoria is not required, one can simply self id. Most trans id males are autogynephiles; they don’t suffer dysphoria, but they do enjoy ‘euphoria’ by cross dressing.
Did you assume my gender? People have told me I have a brass set, but I don’t actually have testicles. Though I suspect I still produce more T than you.
Women are vulnerable to male violence, even the women who don’t think they are.
I’ll put you down as a “Yes” to my original question.
The new normal. People need to be confused and afraid while their pockets are being picked and they are robbed from their savings, pensions, lifestyles, future.
In every major herd slaughter aka ‘economic downturn, transformation, reset, depression’ there is some ideology that the owners of the slave tax farm invent and aggressively promote in order to make the process smoother for them.
This is just how the world works, nothing personal.
Because we’re now a woke society that disallows any “discrimination based on race, ancestry, color, religion, gender, family status, age, disability, sexual orientation or identity. “

The owners previous, “Sam” always had his Korean Bible sitting open on the counter when I walked in. When word got out that they were retiring and the store was up for sale, their only competitor (gas station and convenience store) down the road put a big jar on the counter to take donations for “S+S”‘s retirement gift. It filled up real fast. Apparently, Sam’s mother was an escapee from North Korea.
I wonder what the woke mob thinks of this? Oh wait, I don’t give a rip…

Letters to sellers is stupid – there’s absolutely no saying that you can’t just make up a nice story and tell the sellers what you think they want to hear. This adds to the game of real estate which should be a financial transaction rather than an emotional exchange. Even if all were honest then it can lead to all kinds of discrimination (even if implicit..this has been studied to death) against buyers. It’s unnecessary and also sad that we have to beg to buy a house or try so hard to “win” the bid.
Trudeau did condemn the burning of Catholic Churches, which is clearly wrong, and criminal. The church does seem to always get a pass though (especially given how quick we are to cancel anyone for anything these days).. holier than thou..and I’m not talking about the historic events of residential schools so much as the present state. My sister in law is a Catholic nun, believe me when I say that this special topic is discussed within our family ad nauseum
Yes Garth, it’s time to stop… but it won’t and deep down inside, you know it won’t.
People in general are followers, not leaders and they believe what they’re told. Leaders either unite or divide people. There is no western leader who is uniting. Biden doesn’t unite but talks the talk… can’t walk the walk. Trudeau can’t even talk the talk let alone walk the walk.

The whole LGBT..XYZ+++ thing being so in your face these days is more than partially the fault of Trudeau 1, with his “there’s no place for the state in the bedrooms of the nation.” Trudeau goes on to say “what’s done in private between adults doesn’t concern the Criminal Code.” (and that is all true)
What he forgot to say is that what’s done in private between adults in the bedrooms of the nation should remain private and in the bedrooms of the nation.

That last is an unproven assertion. Unless you have first-hand evidence of that.
Judging by most families that are screwed up (mine included) the problems don’t necessarily get fixed by “acknowledging” them, either.
Nothing I’ve seen indicates that anything to be done by today’s larger community will “fix” things for the indigenous population. (Apart from respecting them and treating them as we treat everyone else. Which they don’t get all the time now, I’ve read the entire report.)
That’s what went wrong in the first place. Many generations of governments thinking they could fix a perceived problem by some simple directive. And then fix the side effects by some other clever scheme. And so on.
The best I can see is that all people have to take the power into their own hands, manage their lives and, of course, vote.

Even though it’s something that happened in the past, because it was devastating, the impact carries on into future generations. The elders have huge baggage that they pass on to their sons and daughters who likewise do the same. And it doesn’t stop until it’s acknowledged.
Symbolic gestures are meaningful and show respect and understanding.
So the flag theft was about that. About the demand for validation, so that the cycle can stop.
—-
The flag theft was almost certainly orchestrated by young and dumb white Women. The only thing accomplished here, was turning all kinds of folks all across the nation, against regular everyday aboriginals who just want to live their lives, and had absolutely nothing to do with the stupid woke activism.
The “demand” is now answered with much more of the more of the problem. When some random makes a “demand” of me, I tell ‘em to **** right off – on principal, how about you?
It’s true that there is a generational legacy to abuse, but stealing flags, toppling statues, and burning Churches no matter who is carrying out these acts – is ABSOLUTELY NOT HELPING. You can take that to the bank.
Most folks I know were agnostic on the aboriginal front till recently, now they are enemies of aboriginals. ENEMIES. ANGRY enemies with the resolve to last a lifetime.
Think about it, when all this blows over, there will be HOARDS of enemies, where there were none… absolutely none. It’ll take a generation to fix.

“Inequality of outcome”, I’ve never heard anyone in my lifetime put it that way for obvious reasons top of which, folks who are discriminated against just want a good equal start. In case you haven’t quite figured it out yet, not everyone has that.
I could also care less if someone like yourself labels me as “woke”, its such a programmed response. The word is heavily politicized. Good God, if folks can’t see the word “woke” being set up as a trigger to fire up the Republican base in the next election with all that it invokes, they haven’t been paying attention of which, unsurprisingly, sheeple is as sheeple does.

You probably found the Korian Corner Store series funny.
There’s a reason it was cancelled.
Asians don’t find it funny.
The Simpsons cancelled the Indian guy.
Not funny for South Asians.
Chinese stories about greasy spoons and railroad workers.
Not funny.
Sailo’s YouTube post about two SS soldiers.
80 years old. Germans are friends now.
No longer funny.
I could go on and on.
My Asian wife’s older relative was kicked by a white guy the other day.
Not funny.
He’s recovering, feels sorry for the “loser”.

WTF?

It wouldn’t matter the profession, it’s the PEOPLE that count. I know now you don’t want to hear it, but I’ve found Koreans to be outstanding IMHO. I don’t care what “Sam” or “Kevin” do for a living, it turns out they run a corner store. They could be welders or nurses, it wouldn’t matter. They “got it where it counts”.
I’m just going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are totally inebriated right now.

“Covid did not spark BLM, it was the execution of George Floyd that showed the whole world the systemic issues.”
Do you mean the systemic issues of Floyd being a career criminal with a violent past, who was high on drugs and had just tried to pass of counterfeit money? Oh you mean the part where he died resisting arrest?
The cop used excessive force, no doubt about it. And the funny thing is in California they won’t even arrest you now if you steal less than $950 worth of stuff, so ya the cops wouldn’t have even shown up if it had happened in California. But Floyd was no hero, he was a bad man.
At the end of the day, not existing on any social media castrates the hard left woke radicals. Tough to give me an “education” when I’m not there to listen, and frankly that’s better news for them than me. It’d be a really bad idea for anyone to show up at my house and make some “demands”. Seriously, there’s over 600 lbs worth of MANpower in da house, all of whom don’t give a ****.
Thaz right. I’ll take Trudeau’s handouts, I’ll take the house appreciation, and I’ll take the BOC fuelled portfolio gains. But I’ll make sure I pay SFA in net taxes just the same. Sorry, but you use them against me, so kiss my ***. Smarten up a bit, maybe I’ll think again, but until then – you’ll have to find some other dumb suka to fund your BS.
Cancel your Twitter account, pack in the Facebook, and come join me in the shade. There’s a cool breeze, I’ve got some Rum and Lemonade, a few stogies, and a stoicism that’ll rock your damn world. Let the woke stooges burn down the cities, we’ll use the flames to pop our corn.
Wokeism will cannibalizes itself while I get rich doing nothing. This has been the reality since 2015. Please – PLEASE, vote Trudeau at the next election so I can retire early. I wouldn’t be able to pull this stunt off under the Conservatives! Liberals 2021!
concepts of social justice don’t just manifest themselves Garth, they are intentionally pushed by those that control the media and governments. Don’t be another oblivious boomer, try watching one of the two Yuri Bezmenov lectures on how countries are subverted, no enemy is named, do your own homework. They are powerful… powerful enough to entirely manufacture (write) a fake pandemic… and sell it successfully to the good willed public.

Nope.

Sums up liberal “logic” in a nutshell. One truth for me, one for you.
———————
Obviously, “logic” is not a concept you understand.
You are either right or wrong.
No liberal or conservative “logic”.
But I bet that if there is a God, he/she/it, is a liberal.
He can’t be on the side of Trump.
No way.
——————————–
You read the Bible much? But anyway back here on earth the Catholic church is contemplating denying Biden and Pelosi communion, but they haven’t mentioned Trump. Probably because Trump isn’t Catholic so it doesn’t matter.
Guess what people?? In every war or every major sporting event people on both sides pray for victory. Seems God doesn’t care who wins or loses. But the axiom that God has never lost a war still holds. He’s on both sides after all.
If you fear God, get right with him personally. Don’t worry about Trump, Pelosi, Biden, liberals, or conservatives. They’ll all get their day to account for their sins.
It is funny in my opinion that everyone knows the mind of God, and it always looks a lot like their own mind. “God is a liberal.” No he’s not, look at nature. He’s a fatalist. If God is even a “he”.
Or maybe he really is punishing California, Oregon, Washington, and BC for their liberal views with plagues of pine beetles, murder hornets, drought, and wildfires? We can’t really know he isn’t. And what’s with this stupid trick of putting all these useful carbon fuels in the ground but then making the use of them ruin the planet???? Not cool, God, not cool.
Do not evoke then name of the Lord to further your own agenda. Much misfortune will come to you, the least of which is that you will look dumb.
The nonsense won’t stop until the funding is cut to the Universities and student loan programs.
It’s all downhill from here. This cultural revolution will get a lot worse before it gets better, and the ones doing most of the moaning right now are the incapable people who need the government to support them, and it won’t go well for them.
More than a few confused comments on this thread. Welcome to U.S. media politicized culture wars manifested by invoking the word “woke” followed by the typical triggered, programmed responses.
Reading the noise people come up with socially, I can’t help but think of just how programmed we are by mainstream and social media and just how far off the mark our reactions are from what the norm should be. It seems like the U.S. is getting a third of it’s moral lead from evening show hosts on Fox news.
Look at the media influence on something as simple as a vaccine for Covid19, or the way it was handled in 2020. The propaganda is so thick, we still have an ongoing pandemic because of it.
The propaganda is so thick these days… if these culture wars continue driven by illiteracy, ratings and unchecked greed, the result will be a sped up U.S. empire in decline. There are some very real leading indicators pointing to this having already happened. The U.S. life expectancy just saw it’s biggest drop since WWII. The leading cause? It wasn’t the pandemic, it was “misinformation”. 2020 saw a 14 month drop to levels not seen since 2002. This may not be a oneoff:
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/us-life-expectancy-2020-cdc-1.6110769
The U.S., according to the Washington post, spent 5.9 trillion on this pandemic not counting this year’s typical now structural trillion dollar deficit, so lets say 7 trillion:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/07/12/coronavirus-spending-economy/
A further 3.3 trillion was added by Fed spending on assets like Mortgage Backed Securities doubling the Fed balance sheet:
https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=Fixn
This kind of federal spending for a $21.4 trillion dollar economy, we think Trudeau’s spending was bad with a $ 354 billion dollar deficit in a 1.736 U.S. trillion dollar economy (2019) amounting to 20.3% of public spending to GDP. Compare this to an estimated U.S. government spending of 32.7% of GDP, not including the Fed’s blowout spending of 3.3 trillion, mainly on MBS’s.
Don’t bet against America? These numbers reflect what a world empire in serious decline looks like but its the lack of morality, a moral rot from within that should be the biggest concern at least, for me. With a moral compass you can rebuild or start over. Without it, there’s nothing.
Speaking of blame; metoo didn’t make the evil men evil.
My bad, $ 354 billion wasn’t currency converted to U.S. dollars, Trudeau spent roughly 17% of GDP instead of 20.3% but if we combined last year and this year’s projected 100 billion dollar deficit, the public debt to GDP increase would be around 21% over 2 years. It’s a dark number, but nothing like what happened with public spending in the U.S. .

#21 To the point. on 07.23.21 at 4:01 pm
____________________________________________
No offence, but I actually think you are “missing the point.”
As a “sort of young-ish,” for the most part apolitical, female, probably white (who knows? I’ve never been interested in plotting the family tree), I do not reject the causes taken on by woke extremists, I reject the extremism, politics of division, self-induced victimization, radicalism, relenteless name-calling, ideologism and deceit propagated by the woke, as well as the way they are discrediting the movements they claim to support by encouraging anarchy rather than dialogue, racial divide through disingenous group targeting, social dissidence based on flawed research and/or outright nonsense, etc.
It’s always easy to blame all of society’s ills on straw men, scapegoats and “the status-quo;” the truth is reality is much more complex than that. Ripping down flags and toppling statues doesn’t change history, it only makes the people taking such action look like shameless hooligans, and also reflects badly on the groups of people they purport to protect.
In short, I do think that black lives matter, and that’s precisely why I don’t believe in de-funding the police (without the police, certain communities would be more vulnerable, especially where criminal activity is already prevalent). So, instead, I champion continued efforts to ensure better policing practices to ensure that force and violence are only used where necessary and without discrimination. But that has to work fairly on both sides. I cry foul play on groups that condemn any force used on any person of any colour at any time; if force is absolutely required to protect law enforcement personnel and/or citizens, then so be it. All law-abiding citizens NEED to be protected from violent criminals, regardless of their colour or social status.
I also champion native rights, and would like nothing more than to see indigenous people continue to strengthen and grow their populations, play a more prominent role in Canadian society, improve their social standing, general health, and physical and financial well-being. And I’d like to see that happen by watching the best and the brightest lead by example to achieve and excel.
I’d also like to see the communities become major participants in a unified and strong Canada that recognizes its past and present weakness and works to rationally and peacefully overcome said mistakes through mutually beneficial cooperation and efforts with all stakeholders rather than trying to erase any one culture or group (reverse racism) or to illegitimately pin all blame on them.
In short, what is required is meaninful and honest reflection and commitment and WORK together to CREATE REAL and POSITIVE change that is LASTING and GAINFUL.
When you’re “sort of youngish” you’ve accumulated enough wisdom to know that real, lasting change can’t be achieved by simply pointing accusatory fingers, inciting violence, laying blame without doing due diligence and research, pillaging, looting, “burning it all down,” de-funding or any other form of anarchistic rebellion. In the end, all those things weaken and discredit the populations they were intended to protect.
Real change depends on open and RESPECTful dialogue between all stakeholders, finding common ground and mutual goals, a continued effort of the communities to encourage their populations to improve their situations and achieve success through effort and POSITIVE change. It also depends on practising vigilance with regard to those who are trying to create divisions and game the system for their own personal and economic advantage.

Key is to find support to help you through and to keep doing what makes you and others happy. You’ve accomplished a lot and should be proud to have re-oriented your career and offered a safe and loving home to animals in need.
And if you are unhappy in your marriage, surely there must be a way to file for divorce regardless of what your spouse wants? Get all the legal help and support you can afford and LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE! You deserve it ;-)
