Thankfully

Since it’s Thanksgiving, I can’t blog. My wife (whom I’m thankful for) says there are limits. This is one of them. No blogging on turkey weekend, she said.

Naturally, I acquiesced. My being an awesome spouse has allowed this ride to go on for a dog’s age. Actually about six or seven dogs now. More to come, I hope. However, if I were allowed to write a few words today they’d mark things worth thanks.

On Friday, for example, I was thankful for Wayne Long, the rebel maritimer MP who defied his boss, T2, and tried to give small business guys more time to make their case for not being taxed into the dirt. Good egg, that Wayne. But he’s going down, of course.

Freedom, which is what the doomed MP was trying to achieve, should always make us thankful. As much as we moan and bitch about unfulfilled expectations, the country is one of the freest on the planet. The more entitled you feel, the less you understand that. Totally your loss.

Be thankful for animals, and sad that we’ve apparently lost half of them in the six decades of my life. I picked dogs as the symbol of this pathetic blog. In a world chock full of volatility, fake news, mistrust and confusion, they embody good. Dogs don’t envy, cheat, hoard, boast, bully or mislead. If they falter, the problem can be fixed with a liver treat. Try that with your boss.

Money, wealth, income, financial security and a house your sister desperately hates you for are all goals and if you’ve achieved them, give thanks. Most people never will, so congrats. But they are not the point of existing, and nobody will remember you because of them. Try to imagine what you’d like your tombstone to say. Or that final Facebook post. Or, simply (to quote a cliché), be the person your dog thinks you are. He doesn’t care about your damn Porsche.

Be thankful for family (even the ones in the basement) plus, of course, health. Whatever the state of your body, it could be worse. So lighten up. Friends are important, especially those you can learn from or count on. It’s said that if you can go through life and have one good friend for most of the journey, you’re blessed. Maybe, like me, you married her.

Anyway, if Dorothy were to let me write anything today I’d say the greatest gift for which thanks are truly due is time. Money, real estate, stuff in general, can be bought, earned, borrowed or stolen, but you’ll never get an extra hour. This is lost on the young, obvious to the old. Waste almost anything else in your life with impunity. Not this.

Thanks for reading.

Thankful for this blog I am. Thanks to its many followers who respectfully share their opinions. Thanks to Garth who puts in countless hours keeping this thing alive. Thanks to our countries founders who instilled the importance of tolerance. Thanks to those who strive to make this country a better place to live. Thankful that although I struggle to be positive like many here, I find the energy to do my part to make this world a better place to live in for all. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Money, wealth, income, financial security and a house your sister desperately hates you for are all goals and if you’ve achieved them, give thanks.

—————————–

Financial security is the goal and really not hard to achieve if one is naturally frugal. The extra money, house, etc are just gravy.

I pity the smug homeowners here who believe a McMansion in Stoney Creek or Aurora or Milton (LOL) is the height of existence. What a shallow, sad way to live.

Happy Thanksgiving from across the pond. I’ll be working tomorrow but don’t worry, I won’t be working very hard! ;)

Amen to all you said, especially that part about freedom, family, friends, dogs, time . . . well, thanks for the whole damn thing! Superbly said.

I also wanted to thank Doug for an excellent post yesterday but I was too late to the party (been helping my better half with chores this weekend and was forced to stay away from all things electronic . . . Bless the woman).

Happy Thanksgiving to you, Dorothy, Doug, Ryan, Wayne Long (respect, Sir) and fellow Dogs.

I’m thankful for my family, my wife, our kids…all healthy and not want for anything.

I’m also thankful to have been renters these past years, allowing us to save and invest which has resulted in financial stability well in advance of our indebted friends/family.

Money isn’t the most important thing, but it sure buys peace of mind, which brings health and harmony to many parts of our lives…I’m thankful for that.

Happy Thanksgiving blog dogs.

Golf tomorrow, much to be appreciated.

To Garth, Wayne Long.. et al.

Offer my own sincere thanks for this blog… at minimum it offers and allows contrarian views sadly lacking in the mainstream.

Myself….in various humble volunteer(aka UNpaid) positions have given me front row seat how incompetent and corrupt ” the system ” is..and how when one even attempts to alert colleagues, they are in denial and concurrently engage in Stockholm Syndrome.

The question then morphs…soldier on?…or fold the tent ??? as you realize you have deeper obligations ie close circle of family and friends.

aka ……there is a point one has to realize that one is neither God nor able play God…but did your best in the good fight..time to pass the torch.

” be the person your dog thinks you are”

If I acted the way my dogs expected, I’d never get anything done. My male wants me to cuddle all the time, while my female wants to go hunting every minute of the day. Impossible to satisfy both, and that’s not even factoring in the 9 meals a day that they think they are entitled to.

#56 Pillboy on 10.08.17 at 8:00 pm

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos explains his approach to decisions via a regret-minimization framework. We all have to make decisions in life, but if we fast forward x amount of years, would any of us look back with regret? Live in the moment, while planning for the future. Health and Time are truly precious.

Be thankful for all we have.

#57 Nonplused on 10.08.17 at 8:00 pm

I am the person my dog thinks I am. He’s just a little bit more accepting than some of the other people in my life, that’s all.

And it’s not like dogs don’t have a social hierarchy, they do. Establishing it is about the first thing dogs do when they meet new dogs. Sure, your dog doesn’t care if you ride a Harley or a Yamaha or nothing at all. Both machines are equally useless to him. And he’s got 4 paws, which are all he needs to go as far as he wants if he could just get out of the house without the damn radio collar! He also doesn’t care that we drive a 2006 Explorer rather than a 2017 Cayenne. He gets to ride in the Explorer and shed as much as he will and it usually means walks. What does he care how much it’s worth? So far as I can tell, he really doesn’t.

My dog always lets the cats sleep on his bed if they want. Why not? He’s got his own furry blanket with him wherever he goes. He likes the bed but he doesn’t need it. In fact, he’ll often vacate the bed for them. Not because he has to, but because he finds all the cat-affection irritating when he’s trying to sleep.

My favorite vehicle I ever owned was my 1999 Jeep Cherokee, which my daughter wrote off this winter. It was a great car. Simple, but effective. Sure, the car is no more, but all occupants were unharmed. Any car that does that for you deserves respect. And in it’s last years it meant mobility for my daughters at a reasonable cost and cool style that a brand new car just can’t buy at several times the carry. My dog liked it too. Same reasons as the Explorer.

So that’s a bit of a ramble but I guess my point is if what you got is good enough for your dog, it’s good enough.

For not being allowed to blog this weekend, Garth, you put up a pretty good one. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you on Tuesday. And say thanks to Dorothy for me.

Enjoyed some political discussion with some Millennials this weekend.

All of them (employees, jobs with pensions, GTA, Ottawa) say they will be voting NDP in next election. 2 reasons….the new leader is more likeable than Trudeau (can’t argue that…and he says umm….way less), and the NDP want to increase the future pension amounts (the fact that this will be funded by increased taxes is lost on them) as they have to commit so much money to housing, that they have no money left over for saving for the future.

Not surprising that they are hoping for the gov’t to bail them out financially, their parents started that mind set helping them with their housing.

I wonder how many retirees and pensioners would consider voting NDP for the same reasons.

The funny thing is if you think that way, and there is pension reform, they next gov’t can change it just as easy. Best to count on #1 to look out for #1.

I will not be voting for the New Debt Party, we have already accumulated enough, thanks T2.

I am thankful for our mega housing bubble(s), without it our country would have been in, and gotten stuck in, a severe recession if not depression. I am thankful for taxes that are getting ever higher, since they encourage me to leave Canada. I am thankful for Trudeau junior, because his election proves that you don’t need to be smart or accomplished to get to the top; thanks to people like Trudea and most of his cabinet ministers, young people can now with peace in their hearts decide to not i vest so much in studying. And I am thankful for AI and robots for saving the poor millenials even more suffering through mountainous debt invested in useless degrees. We should all focus on being born to parents that have been in high positions; and so I am thankful for new genetic engineering techniques that will allow future designer babies to do just that.

Let me just say I have Garth and this blog to be thankful for. For several years, he and it has kept me in tune with opinions we don’t normally hear in the MSM/advertising channels. He and it made we aware of how crazy the GTA R/E market had become. After some factors that prevented us from selling went away and learning of the very tight supply and 30% increases, we sold in January and closed in March. We made so much money that we are all set to retire much earlier than planned. Garth, I often wonder why you put in the long hours writing this blog and with the comments section, but I want you to know that you have made a really big difference in my family’s life and for that I am massively thankful this Thanksgiving day.

Che Guevara. Total loser. Embraced by university teachers everywhere. As a kid I had his had shirt but somewhere along the road to food as real man trying to feed my family I did some deductive reasoning skills.

I switched teams. Grew and became a capitalist.

Was not easy or safe. Scared to death on the first toe in the water. Kind of lonely actually, but now I never need another job again.

I became a gambler. Something teachers with defind pensions know nothing about.

Let them be your mentors into slavery. I wasn’t cool with it. God give me a brain and one day I said let’s try and use it.

Thanks Garth,

There is a note on our fridge with a saying attributed to the Dalai Lama… about his surprise regarding humanity. (obviously a loaded question, maybe even by a CBC jockey)

“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; with the result that he does not live in the present or the future.
He lives as if he is never going to die and then dies having never really live.

When lovely & I were cruising the South Pacific a long time ago, an old Swedish couple we met in the Marquesas said to us, “You are doing this right, at a young age. It is not good to be out here when you’re 60. The mind is willing but the body is tired.”

We give thanks to all and may your dreams bear fruit and you reap the harvest.

Happy Thanksgiving Amigo

Just so you don’t think I am spouting crap here, I have linked a story which I believe substantiates my line of reasoning regarding Putin /Russia and the rapidly changing dynamics there.

My extrapolation is that this dynamic may cause MENA (Middle East North Africa) economies to view trade with Russia favourably at the expense of Canada’s exports.

They will especially be inclined to do so given our ridiculous terms of trade that try to incorporate a SJW agenda.

I believe that this article has some real food for thought;

Well said….and HT right back at ‘cha. But….why do Canadians in particular hate successful people. If your sister hates you for your house….welcome to the club. I have known people who I knew long before I was even moderately successful start to seeth and stew with every ring on the ladder I climbed away from them…and I started noticing how increasingly pissy they were getting with every email and postcard from wherever I was. And it got to the point when responses became hostility. Why are Canadians like that? I have had to cut dozens of family members, friends and acquaintances out of my life over the years as they became more apoplectic over my success. I don’t hang with loons. There’s something about Canada that drives people to want what they can’t have and won’t work for. When I introduced my wife, a young beautiful model half my age to my family at a formal dinner, I thought my hard drinking sister might actually stick a fork into her own eye such was the body language.

Canada is definitely the road rage capital of the planet…..it sure as hell ain’t Texas where everyone is armed. But in Canada…where know that 99% of all expensive vehicles are leased not owned….it seems among the hierarchy of idiots it has evolved to a point where the guy with obviously biggest payments insists that no one can pass, turn with signal, merge or change lanes past, or near the loon…without the big payment loser going freaking ballistic.

I’ve worked in many cultures….and it surprises me that own two start conversations with ‘what do you do”….followed by…”where do you live”…..as if we live in a caste system where it is essential to predetermined I even ones spot in the pecking order. The two are Canada and India btw. In Asia, where I live now….it’s unthinkably rude to impose on someone with these types of personal questions. In Canada it’s…’what do make….what do you drive…where did you vacation last…..etc etc etc…..wierd ‘…..jealous envious tall poppy cutting wierd. Thoughts?

Russia is gasping for air….
Demographics determines a Nation

Excerpt from 2 different authors take on Russia
(“Must reads” for long-term investors)

What to Expect When No One’s Expecting: America’s Coming Demographic Disaster

In 1995, Russia had 149.6 million people. Today, Russia is home to 138 million. By 2050, its population will be nearly a third smaller than it is today. This impending catastrophe is not lost on the Russian government, which released a study in 2001 concluding that the country’s contracting population was a threat to national security. The report caused Vladimir Putin, in his first annual state of the nation address, to warn his countrymen that they were “facing the serious threat of turning into a decaying nation.”

*******

The Accidental Superpower: The Next Generation of American Preeminence and the Coming Global Disorder

As of 2014 the United States is now the world’s largest energy producer, bringing up more oil than Saudi Arabia and more natural gas than Russia.

Russia’s demographic decline is so steep, so far advanced, and so multivectored that for demographic reasons alone Russia is unlikely to survive as a state, and Russians are unlikely to survive as a people over the next couple of generations.

Russia has at most eight years of relative strength to act. If it fails, it will have lost the capacity to man a military. To maintain a sizable missile fleet. To keep its roads and rail system in working order. To prevent its regional cities from collapsing. To monitor its frontier.

@#109 Reality1
While I dont disagree that the US Foriegn Policy in the Middle East has been an unmitigated disaster over the past 25 years.
The nonstop proxy wars. Endless drone missle strikes on wedding celebrations in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, etc, etc etc. have a tendancy to do that…..

The article you refer to could have been written by Pravda.
It isnt “Moscow” or “Russia” that is causing a quantum shift in the Middle East .
Its Putin.
A craven, greedy, evil man who will (and has) stopped at nothing to get to power and remain there.
Theft, murder, inprisonment. Take your pick.
Nothing is beyond his scope of repression to anyone who opposes him.
Russians arent fools and they will eventually will be rid of him, one way or another.
Then what happens to the Middle East?
A region filled with aging, corrupt dictators even worse than Putin.
With burgeoning populations of young angry men and women with nothing but time on their hands due to unemployment, mismanagement and corruption
( please see the riots and protests of the 1960’s in America for examples of social unrest)
The one sided article viw Pravda ignores the fact that , due to fracking , the US is now energy self sufficient not to mention that electric and hybid cars will be the future( not only in the US but China moving forward.
Lets also not forget Chinas forays into the African continent. Loans, trade agreements, etc.
That will untimately lead to clashes with Putins Russia.
All while Chinas population increases and Russias population wanes…..not great news if your a Russian living in the far East watching China stare enviuosly at your barely protected natural resources…..North Korea isnt the only one that is glad it has nukes to hold off invaders……..
Nah. The US , wisely may be sitting this one out.
They went in and kicked the hornets nest in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. and then moved on.
The next 25-50 years of unwinnable civil wars, power grabs, dictatorships, uprisings, refugees in the millions, all over the middle east and Africa will be a huge drain on any country’s economy that thinks that it has the “answer”.
The US had its nose bloodied in Vietnam and a generation later was reminded of that in Iraq.
Russia turned tail and ran in Afghanistan in the early 80’s and apparently needs a reminder 30 years on.

Dont worry.
Jingoistic wars tend to lose their appeal as the body bags continue to arrive home in Russia, and the masses of people realize they have been Putin’s puppets.
And no amount of spin, censorship and or propaganda will stop public opinion from demanding Putins head of a stick outside the Kremlin walls.

If he’s as smart as I think he is….he’ll cut and run within 5 years and live the life of a man worth $500 Billion somewhere with no extradition .because…….even gilded cages arent all that bad.

Happy Thanksgiving Garth and thanks again for this blog and forum.

I am thankful for never really ever having to live a day in hunger in my life. I am also thankful that we are now in a position where we can sell as many delicious pizzas as we can make in a day.

Thank you to all the blog dogs who make this comments section what it is. It always amazes me how some people choose to act on the internet

Reality1 You bring up some good points about Russia and how they are now choosing to do business with the world rather than squabble. You’ll have a hard time convincing Crowdy-Farty of anything though – his reference to the CIA claiming anything about Putin is laughable. For anyone who wants a better understanding of the CIA’s MO for the past 50-60 years just needs to watch a show currently airing on the history network called ‘America’s War on Drugs’ and this is just the stuff that is declassified and being made public now. I am sure there are many more skeletons in that closet that will take many more years to be reviled.

For anyone who questions the current power and energy shift, I question this…

Why does Edward Snowden who revealed to the US public knowledge about extremely shady actions their own government was taking over their own citizens (them) – who should be regarded as a hero – need to seek asylum in Russia from his own government – the same government of a supposedly free country???

Global politics is in a sad state of affairs indeed – The US is no longer the beacon of hope it once was to a free society and its too bad many people fail to understand the veil that is being and has been pulled over their eyes

“How Many Hours Americans Need to Work to Pay Their Mortgage

Many people define the American dream as owning your own home, not to mention a comfortable lifestyle, healthy children, and a secure retirement. But the ability to afford a home—let alone all those other things—depends entirely on where you live and your level of income. This makes apples-to-apples comparisons across the country extremely difficult. How can you easily compare real estate locations and income levels for the entire population? Take a look at our new map to find out.”

Had a good drive to Orangeville to visit the cousin’s family this weekend for an early Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve gotta say, the RE obsession runs extremely deep, and there’s so much confusion, even amongst very highly educated people as to the future direction of real estate. I sat quietly, taking it all in, but it was quite clear that the general philosophy that was adopted was that RE is good, infallible. Stocks, bad, go up and down a lot, index funds are bad because their managers charge fees.

Met with a friend downtown Friday night whose elderly retired folks, with minimal pension income, had over the past few years, signed for a million in mortgages. She was, to say the least, horrified that banks were willing to arrange such financing to a pair of 75-year-olds.

Keeping in mind that I didn’t bring up any of this stuff at conversation, I sat back and found it all so horrifying that such an obsession with RE exists, with many people, even my friends and family, having positioned themselves at such extremes.

So yeah, take care everyone on this Thanksgiving, and be very careful about that RE.

Wait I’m thankful for something: that our elite overlords seize only 2/3rd of every dollar I earn:

– 50% off the top
– Another 13% HST consumption tax
– Plus all the buried and extra taxes and fees.

I’m thinking this Thanksgiving day is just another mind game of theirs.
Like: Do not judge – lest you be judged! Turn the other cheek!

Wait didn’t their King write that book for us? (Mr. J.)
And if we are made in the mirror image of an entity and we should be like this entity at all tiems, and it is judging us 24/7, BUT we are not to ourselves judge…this makes no sense.

Seems all of this gives the elites a get out of jail free card as we look the other way and prostrate to imagination.

Any takers against that bet?

Met with a friend downtown Friday night whose elderly retired folks, with minimal pension income, had over the past few years, signed for a million in mortgages. She was, to say the least, horrified that banks were willing to arrange such financing to a pair of 75-year-olds.

Yes the bank was negligent but what the hell were her parents thinking? That they’re going to live forever?

I’m not too concerned about Russia.

America and its allies has everything under control and are one step ahead of the bad guys.

It has long been rumoured that Alex Ovechkin is a Russian operative ,operating in plain view earning a tonne of money from his side gig of putting pucks in the back of the net.

Why else do you think that he has stayed in Washington D.C so long when he had the chance to move somewhere more exciting and lucrative?

Anyway to shut him down the allies have sent in an Australian to keep an eye on his movements in Washington 24/7

Why else would you allow an Australian to play in the NHL…

Pink Pumpkins being carved in Vancouver.

This is yet another example of a relatively affordable house by Vancouver standards struggling to be sold.

As you can see by my b- grade noted below they originally tried to flip this Pumpkin pancake for the best part of a 25% gain before expenses.

Was in my Possible Pinkies folder and after at least two price reductions is now a full on Pumpkin.

Picked up for 1.47 ,could get out roughly even after expenses but as I have maintained a lot of people who bought in the Spring Fling of 2016 and are trying to add north of 10% to these prices to do better than break even are having a tough go of it.

As you can see they took it off the market for a couple of months and put it back on hoping for a quick kill ,but if you look at the inventory and track the market a lot of people had the same idea…

Man, do I hear you – I have experienced EXACTLY the same thing.

At first, I thought it was me and perhaps my straightforward attitude and honesty was being somehow interpreted – wrongly – as arrogance.

Total strangers outright asking you how much you made and what your car cost (at stoplights and in parking lots, no less) and where you lived and what you did for a living. Very rude in most cultures. Family, even worse at times.

Friends wives and very long time family friends could barely mask their sneers when I showed up with an immaculately groomed and dressed serious long term girlfriend who extremely accomplished. This was at my parent’s 60th anniversary!

My brother and my parents were only several of the 200 guests who seemed happy for me for my modest success in life. My girlfriend (Cdn living in the US) simply could not believe the looks she was getting. I guess a super figure in a D&G dress triggers Cdn women somehow.

This was not a one time thing – to the point I would only ask about them and not volunteer any data on my life.
Worked like a charm and shortened the exposure – people love to talk about themselves.

I stopped flying to Canada solely to visit family after my parents passed – thereafter it was strictly biz first , family / friends as the schedule allowed.

So, no , you are not imagining things, nor is your experience unique.

My antidote – obligatory visits kept short and not giving a f*ck beyond civility – no one is going to force my manners!

You don’t need a billion people when you have a very homogenous society and belief in your leadership.

Read some history – Germany in WW 2.

When you are the LEADER in military technology with state of the art missles, etc. , 12Billion dollar aircraft carriers become easy targets, not assets.

Doesn’t take big standing armies anymore when you have 8,000 MIRVed war heads and resolve. And when your allies can raise a 10 million man army to counter American hegemony.

You are living in the past – proof – North Korea and the American reactions (or lack of) so far. The world is changing rapidly. Wake up.

They have tried the shock price drop during the summer and have now settled somewhere in between but does it not make you scratch your head the some of the cheapest houses in Vancouver have had to resort to these tactics when the media tells us all that everything is fine and the NDP aren’t doing anything when the market is already struggling under its own weight.

Meh it’s thanksgiving and I wanted to just keep the thank you’s going but ah well.

Canadian women, at least from what I have seen in Toronto, are among the hottest in the world. Seriously.

There are a lot of low quality men who complain about the “difficulty” of getting with one of them but that’s because they are usually low quality themselves.

This is a generalization but it’s what I have seen.

A lot of frustrating men feel can be explained by their lack of connection with the opposite sex.

I’m willing to bet, that is the reason the vast majority of the ex pats on here complain about Canada endlessly.

And by the way, just because someones hopes the western world falls, does not mean it will.

163 Reality1,

Reading history also shows you that pacifism does not work. Germany could have been taken care of early on if the allies were not trying to appease.

That also is an unfortunate lesson of ww2.

Also,

Living in the past is believing that number of men means anything. It did for the USSR in ww2 but hasn’t after.

What wins modern wars is technology. And no one comes close to “US hegemony” in that arena.

” at least what I have seen in Toronto”

You need to view a wider world of women than Toronto and not just look, but experience.

Lots of attractive looking women in Canada for sure.
Once you get past the “packaging”, not so much.

Lot more to a “quality” woman /person than looks.

I look for the “whole package” and find Canadian women generally don’t have it compared to Euro / Eastern Euro / Asian women living in those locales.

Maybe you just don’t have a lot of experience meeting these kind of women in their homelands. Once they live in Canada, they are subject to all sorts of taint.

As to the “low quality” of Canadian men – couldn’t agree more.
After a few nights in Toronto this summer, I can see why the ladies are disappointed and bitchy – a lot of louts about.

——————————-

Many people find braggadocious (love that word) displays of wealth tacky. It’s not that they’re jealous, though some might be and indeed Canadians seem to be a rather insecure lot. It’s just unpleasantness of it.

I know many people more successful than I am as well as less. I deleted a Facebook friend a while back because I couldn’t stomach the constant bragging about his travels to far-flung places with his work at IBM. I’m not a big traveller (I only like travelling within Europe and North America, that’s it; maybe Australia/NZ one day) so I couldn’t care less if someone has visited 100 countries in which I have zero interest. It’s the gloating that I find uncouth.

Good perspective – but the Germans were the greatest military force in history next to the Roman Empire in its heyday. They fought against incredible odds (often 20 to 1) with superior technology and NO oil from 1941.

WW 2 history, particularly the air wars and heavy military equipment was the subject of my graduation paper – so I kinda know how it went down – from all sides.

I interviewed tank corp personnel from Germany, England, Canada, US that served in Europe, Russian Front and Africa thanks to my father who set it all up (WW 2 vet). Bravery on all sides and a great waste of life.

I learned very early on that “all wars are bankers’ wars” and never forgot the lessons I learned from these brave souls. Indeed the “greatest generation” I am aware of.

Making lemonade out of Trudeau’s urine? Even this alchemy is possible for stock pickers. And why I am doubling down on specific related plays when the market opens. This isn’t rocket science, think of who directly benefits when oil doesn’t flow through pipe. Ready yourself appropriately…..I think there’s at least a 50% bump coming to this sector by years end.

#175…Howard…..nope…you’re wrong in your justifying your frustration and lack of personal success. Canadians are on record as being the most mean spirited haters in the developed world. Too lazy to work and too chicken to steal. I read similar articles all the time about Canadians jealousy and envy. Our consumer debt stats speak for themselves. We even have a name for it specific to Canada….’tall poppy syndrome’.

In the past I’ve heard it all….”you’re only successful …..because.”…fill in the blanks. I’ve been accused of being successful because I’m white! But through it all I don’t remember anyone else’s working the hours I did. ….always first in last out. People only saw the big gold Mercedes , the $3000 suits , the trophy wife and perfect child…big home…first class everything….they don’t think about where that comes from…..most Canadians are most obsessed with winning the lottery than trying to figure out how to work longer hours. Of course I got more deals and more promotions…..I was a freaking winner….and that attracts notice. It also sets the lazy stump gnashers to grinding their teeth in hate.

My advice….think about what you do and less about what you want. What you will come when your the best at what you do. As a kid I sold real estate….I learned how to sell peddling vacuuming cleaners door to door when I was 14. I dropped my articles in tax assessment when I realized the real estate agents I was meeting were complete and utter idiots. When I switched to sales my manager asked me how much I thought I wanted to make….I was making $35,000 in my govt job and answered ‘$50,000.

She smirked because few agents in the elite made that much at the time…..this was when house sold in the very low $100K range and split commissions were under $3000 after the house. I made ten times that my first year and doubled that in my second. First in last out. I knocked on 6000 doors every month, rain or shine. I was Canada’s first residential real estate agent to earn $1,000,000.00 in annual commission. It was in all the papers. Don’t hate me because I’m successful. It ain’t braggacio you’re tasting….that’s my shoe leather in your butt.

I’ve since had several successful careers….success attracts success. And I’ll bet I still put in way more hours than you. Life ain’t a lottery friend…..emulate….don’t envy.

Yeah, the Russians are a bunch of farmers – sure.
Keep telling yourself that.

They put the S 400’s in Syria and the air space went dead to anything but Russian and Syrian planes. No more talk about US imposed “no fly zone” because it is unenforceable due to Russian technology.

Why has the US Navy not ventured into the Straits of Hormuz in a long time? Even the Iranians have land to sea missiles that would sink their fleet – you can’t defend against many hundreds of missiles traveling at supersonic speeds at various altitudes.

Wake the f*ck up – technology is the great leveller. Hell, even Hyundai uses the same painting system for vehicles as Mercedes Benz – they even advertise that fact in trade magazines.

Israel now launches air to surface missiles illegally over other countries rather than attempt Syrian air space due to the S 400’s.

How come half the cruise missiles impulsively launched by Trump at Syria went missing ? Combination of inferior American ordnance and Syria / Russia’s missle defense effectiveness.

I suggest you pick up a military tome – Jane’s Defence and learn.

GDP don’t matter when state when SU 35’s and PAK 50’s cost 20 to 25 % of the latest US planes (that can’t even fly in bad weather LOL).

You want to fight them ?
Apparently, neither does the USA.
